Important aspects of effective supervision
As a leader in your organization, you should always provide supervision to your athletes to ensure they are safe. Providing training for your staff and/or volunteers will help them know what to look for in order to prevent abuse.
If you notice any recurring, unordinary behavior from an athlete, coach or volunteer, make sure you address the situation accordingly. Approach the individual in a calm setting. Always remember to minimize unsupervised one-on-one interactions between athletes and coaches, staff, volunteers. This will help protect constituents from false accusations of misconduct and also provide safer environments.
Furthermore, always avoid unclear boundaries, as they can lead to inadvertent misconduct.
