The campaign to stop abuse in sport is comprised of three parts:

  • Part 1: Understanding child abuse in youth-serving organizations (May 2013-July 2013)

  • Part 2: Preventing child abuse in youth-serving organizations (August 2013-January 2014)

  • Part 3: Responding to and reporting inappropriate behaviors, policy breaches and allegations and suspicions of child abuse (February 2014-March 2014)

Each month, we will take a look at a new issue. For example, we’ll take a look at:

  • Who abuses

  • How and where abuse occurs

  • Assessing risks that arise in youth-serving organizations

  • Preventing abuse through policies and procedures

  • Using screening to reduce the likelihood of abuse (including best practices, criminal background checks and references checks)

  • Reporting suspected abuse.

In April 2014, the campaign will culminate in the SafeSport summit.
