Eleven athletes stamped their names in the history books when the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association today announced the first athletes nominated to the 2014 U.S. Olympic Team in halfpipe and slopestyle skiing. Both disciplines will make their Olympic debuts at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. All 11 athletes met the objective criteria during the five-event qualifying series. The USSA is expected to announce additional athletes to the team in the coming week, pending final quota allocations. All nominations are pending approval by the United States Olympic Committee. The USOC plans to announce the full 2014 U.S. Olympic Team on Jan. 27.

The current 11-member team, which ranges in age from 17 to 30, features a reigning world champion, X Games medalists and a Winter Youth Olympic Games medalist.
