Team USA men’s and women’s ice hockey got off to strong starts in the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games, complete with thrilling overtime finishes and a historic “Marathon on Ice” shootout. T.J. Oshie captured the world’s attention in one of the most anticipated events of the Olympic Winter Games when he scored on four-of-six shootout attempts – including the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth round – to beat host nation Russia 3-2 at the Bolshoy Ice Dome. Women’s hockey brought home the silver medal after a heartbreaking overtime loss to Canada, who came back after a two-goal deficit in the third period to win 3-2 in overtime.
