Erin Hamlin prepares for her first run during the women's luge singles on day three of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games at Sanki Sliding Center on Feb. 10, 2014 in Sochi, Russia.

Erin Hamlin became the first American to win an Olympic medal of any color in singles luge when she took bronze at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. This broke a German and Austrian hold on the Olympic podium, as no other country has medaled in women's luge since 1976.
