1. History was made at the US Open as Venus Williams, Sloane Stephens, Madison Keys and CoCo Vandeweghe secured half of the spots in the women’s quarterfinals…

2. …and then all advanced for the first all-American US Open women’s semifinals in 36 years

3. It was Sloane Stephens and Madison Keys that emerged victorious and advanced to the final…

4. …and Stephens that took the win, just 11 months after foot surgery and two months after being ranked No. 957 in the world

5. Stephens, of course, was pretty thrilled with her performance.

6. The reigning champ also happens to be dating a fellow member of Team USA!

7. The FIVB awarded its season honors and, for the fourth time in his career, Phil Dalhausser was named the most outstanding men’s beach volleyball player

8. Even though Dalhausser is no stranger to awards, they’re still special to him.

9. Mountain biker Howard Grotts may be riding with a recently-separated shoulder, but he wouldn’t let that hold him back at the world championships.

10. The U.S. men’s soccer team’s FIFA World Cup qualifying journey continues, with a Bobby Wood goal ensuring a critical tie against Honduras

11. USA Wrestling is red hot! After its banner performance at the world championships, wrestlers proceeded to sweep the Team USA Awards Best of August honors.

12. Dania Vizzi turned down the opportunity to study dance at Juilliard for the opportunity to pursue her shooting career…

13. …and her move paid off, as she earned her first skeet world championship title.

14. Last month, Kori Carter’s pre-race game face at the IAAF World Championships went viral. But before her internet stardom, she moved from California to Kentucky to try to get her career back on track (pun not intended).

15. Paralympic athletes aren’t merely human – they’re superhuman. Thirteen Paralympians explain the moments that make them feel most unstoppable

16. The snowboarding season is just getting started, but Kelly Clark and Chloe Kim are wasting no time getting comfy on the podium together again.

17. Lindsey Jacobellis isn’t wasting any time either, placing second at the first snowboardcross world cup of the season

18. And the very next day, Jacobellis earned her first win of the season

19. Paralympic alpine skier and cyclist Muffy Davis is taking her talents to the IPC, as she was elected to the IPC Governing Board

20. Jessica Steffens waited out Hurricane Irma from Puerto Rico, but no water polo players were harmed in the making of her tweets.
