The U.S. Women’s National Water Polo Team won its eighth World League title at the FINA World League Super Final in Kunshan, China. Behind three goals from Maggie Steffens and seven saves from Sami Hill, Team USA overcame an early 4-1 deficit to claim a 10-8 victory against Italy for the crown. Team USA has won five of the last six editions in the World League series.
Team USA finished the tournament undefeated. After topping Russia in a shootout, the United States went on to beat Canada, Spain, Brazil, Australia and Italy with no match closer than two goals. To watch a replay of the championship game, click here.
Meanwhile, the U.S. men’s team rallied from five goals down to defeat Canada, 12-9, in the opening match of the FINA World League Super Final, which continues this week.
The U.S. men’s and women’s compound teams both earned silver medals at the World Cup Stage III in Antalya, Turkey.
Team USA recorded three top-10 finishes – highlighted by Corben Sharrah’s fourth-place finish – at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Berlin.

The U.S. women’s national team earned its best finish in 20 years, placing fourth at the 2014 Rabobank World Cup in The Hague, Netherlands.
American shooters earned seven medals at the ISSF World Cup in Munich, including a sweep in women’s skeet with Kim Rhode, Brandy Drozd and Haley Dunn atop the podium.
Hope Solo posted her 71st career shutout to tie the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team record as the Americans defeated France, 1-0. Solo tied Briana Scurry for most shutouts by a U.S. goalkeeper. Sydney Leroux scored the lone goal of the game.
Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross defeated No. 1 Brazil to win their first 2014 Grand Slam medal in Moscow. Meanwhile, Phil Daulhausser and Sean Rosenthal claimed bronze in the men’s tournament.
The U.S. men’s national indoor team improved to 6-0 with a 3-2 win over Serbia at the FIVB World League in Chicago.
Spenser Mango swept Sam Hazewinkel in two straight matches in the final of the U.S. Greco-Roman World Team Trials Friday night in Daytona Beach, Florida. Mango, a two-time Olympian, made his fifth consecutive world team.
