I must say, I can't imagine learning more about life than how much I have learned through sports. 3 weeks ago I was leading into World Championships, definitely the most fit I have ever been in my 10 year career in this sport (triathlon), and if the everyday focus of squeezing every last ounce of energy out of the body to put into the training isn't enough, let's throw technical difficulties into the works.
I am on a training ride and my pedal breaks, I realize that body has been compensating for 50 KM. I get home to find that my bolt to my custom cycling shoes has been stripped, and when working with the local bike shop it is made apparent to me that my cleat position is extremely unopportunistic for efficient riding. Personally that explains a lot about my limited cycling results over the past five years. Looking on the bright side I thought, ‘Fantastic, maybe all the energy I have been putting into the bike will now show up in some performances.'
Never underestimate the power of muscle memory!!! Wow what a transition.
The beat on the street is that women have an unreal sense of feel ... I can attest. I have had three different bike fits and have come up with a solution but have had all those providing support pulling their hair out! Sense of feel ... A curse? :) Back in the saddle and building the proper muscles.
Love the challenges, they seem countless!
