So, I've finally made it back to Tuscaloosa! I was in NC for about a week and a half visiting my family. It was a great vacation since I don't really get to spend a lot of time with my family. I was fortunate to see a lot of my extended family as well, so that made the trip home a great one. They are all incredibly pumped about me going over to Beijing, so that gives me an extra little bit of motivation (not like I really need anymore) to keep training because I represent them as well as myself. Training is going very well. After our 3 weeks of training together in June, we finally got back together as a team this past weekend at the Lakeshore Foundation in Birmingham Alabama. It was great to be back with the team again and to see how our training during our time apart went. We had a great weekend training together, learning new things and just getting to have more time on the court with each other, which is so important in our sport. Being in a team sport, we get one shot...one shot to win a gold medal and do something really special as a team. It's not like other sports where you may have 2 or 3 events to win a medal...this is it for us. That is why we hold each other so accountable and why I feel such a responsibility to train hard each and every time I go workout. I know my teammates are putting themselves on the line for me so I have to do the same and not let them down!
Other than training, life is pretty calm. Training is about all I have the time and energy to do, so I guess being not really busy is good! So until next time....GO USA!!!
