Statement from United States Olympic Committee Chairman Peter Ueberroth on the passing of former Los Angeles Times reporter Ken Reich

July 01, 2008, 6:09 p.m. (ET)
"Through his coverage of the planning and staging of the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Ken brought great honor to his profession.  He was a gifted writer and knowledgeable reporter whose work reflected a commitment to accuracy, integrity and fairness.  He took the time to thoroughly understand his subject matter and became a great student of the Olympic Movement, both nationally and internationally.

When necessary, Ken could be as tough and tenacious as a bulldog in chasing down a story.  Through it all, he upheld the highest ideal of his profession: he protected and served the public interest.

Ken was a proud father and grandfather, and his children possess many of the same attributes that made Ken successful.  We extend our condolences to Ken's family members and his many friends."
