Statement from United States Olympic Committee Chairman Peter Ueberroth on the passing of former Los Angeles Times reporter Ken Reich

"Through his coverage of the planning and staging of the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Ken brought great honor to his profession.  He was a gifted writer and knowledgeable reporter whose work reflected a commitment to accuracy, integrity and fairness.  He took the time to thoroughly understand his subject matter and became a great student of the Olympic Movement, both nationally and internationally. 

When necessary, Ken could be as tough and tenacious as a bulldog in chasing down a story.  Through it all, he upheld the highest ideal of his profession: he protected and served the public interest. 

Ken was a proud father and grandfather, and his children possess many of the same attributes that made Ken successful.  We extend our condolences to Ken's family members and his many friends."
