For Immediate Release January 30, 2008 February 2008 Programs and Events ARCHERY: Ongoing Resident Team Training (19 participants) - Daily training and instruction for resident archery squad o Participants include three-time Olympian Khatuna Lorig and 2000 Olympian Karen Scavotto ATHLETICS: Ongoing Resident Team Training (28 participants) - Long-term training program for track and field athletes o Participants include 2004 Olympians Toby Stevenson, Tim Mack, Ian Waltz, Jarred Rome, Monique Henderson, Stacy Dragila, Jamie Nieto and Tora Harris Team Running USA, February 8-29 (10 participants) - Sea-level training for long distance running group o Participants include 2008 Olympic Trials Marathon Champion, Ryan Hall CANOE/KAYAK: Sprint Resident Program (18 participants) - Long-term training program for sprint kayak athletes o Participants include 2004 Olympians Carrie Johnson, Jeff Smoke and Rami Zur Olympic K-4 Select 2 Camp, February 8-April 6 (1 participant) - Evaluate K-4 boat combinations to determine squad for 2008 Continental Olympic Qualifier Olympic Preparation Mini-Camp, February 10-15 (2 participants) - Short term, warm-weather training for canoe athletes CYCLING: BMX Resident Team Training (7 participants) - Long-term training program for Men's and Women's BMX athletes o Participants include Steven Cisar, Mike Day, Amanda Geving, Kim Hayashi, Jill Kintner and Arielle Martin Track Cycling Training Program, Feb. 8-29 (1 participant) - Warm-weather training for track cyclist Michael Blatchford FIELD HOCKEY: Women's Resident Team Training (30 participants) - Long-term training program for Women's National Field Hockey Team Men's Team Training (6 participants) - Long-term training program for several members of the Men's National Field Hockey Team INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS: Senegal Kayak Program, January 1-August 31 (1 participant) - Long-term international training program for Assane Fall, sprint kayak athlete from Senegal o Fall recently competed at the African Championships and took second place, qualifying himself to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing Hong Kong Track and Field Program, January 1-August 31 (1 participant) - Long-term international training program for Tank Yik Chun, a sprinter from Hong Kong Korea Archery Training Program, February 4-18 (22 participants) - International training camp for Korean Archery Team Swedish Kayak K1 Training, February 1-17 (1 participant) - Warm-weather training for Sofia Paladanius Czech Kayak Camp, February 1-29 (9 participants) - Warm-weather training for Czech Men's Kayak Team Czech Canoe Training Camp, February 24-March 13 (3 participants) - Warm-weather training for Czech Canoists and coach Hungarian Women's Kayak Training, February 29-April 1 (9 participants) - Warm-weather training for Hungarian Women's Kayak Team PARALYMPIC SPORTS: Track and Field Resident Team Training (15 participants) - Long-term training program for Paralympic track and field athletes o Participants include 2004 Paralympians Marlon Shirley, April Holmes, Jeff Skiba, Nelacey Porter, Royal Mitchell and Casey Tibbs ROWING: Men's , Women's Sweep/Scull Camp, November 1-April 1 (71 participants) - Warm-weather winter training for U.S. Men's , Women's National Team Rowers RUGBY: Men's Sevens Tournament Preparations, February 4-8 (240 participants) - Team preparations for international tournament taking place at PETCO Park - Includes training for international teams (Mexico, West Indies, Argentina, Australia, Kenya, France, Figi, New Zealand, Wales, Chile, Canada, England) SOFTBALL: Women's Olympic Team Training, February 1-8 (25 participants) - Team practice and training for 2008 Olympic Tour TRIATHLON: Triathlon Spring Training Camp, February 26-April 26 (6 participants) - Warm weather, sea-level training for Elite Triathletes Race Director Certification, February 29-March 3 (23 participants) - Education course for USA Triathlon Race Directors SPECIAL EVENTS ' Feb. 7: Chinese New Year Celebration for Athletes o Special dinner at Olympic Training Center Dining Hall ' Feb. 8: Six-Month out mark from Beijing Olympic Games Opening Ceremony UPCOMING COMMUNITY APPEARANCES: ' Track , Field Athletes Jon Rankin (800m), Simi Adeagbo (Triple Jump) and Kayaker Susannah Stucchio will speak at the South Bay YMCA Kickoff Fundraising event on Thursday, Feb. 7 at South Bay Fish , Grill in Chula Vista ' Various Olympic hopefuls will speak to Chula Vista Elementary School Classes during their Exercise the Dream sessions at the Olympic Training Center. Dates: February 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 21. ' Track , Field Athletes Akiba McKinney (Long Jump), Simi Adeagbo (Triple Jump) and Paralympic Track , Field Athlete April Holmes (Long Jump, 200m) will attend the Girl Scouts of San Diego's National Girls , Women in Sports Day on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Girl Scout Headquarters in San Diego.
