BEIJING (AP) Cassy Vericel of France, the reigning bronze world medalist on floor exercise, will miss the Beijing Olympics with an ankle injury.

Vericel hurt her left ankle in July, but had recovered enough to come to Beijing. During warm-ups in the training gym before Thursday's podium training, however, she re-injured it.

"I fell forward and felt a stab of pain," Vericel said.

After consulting with medical officials, Vericel withdrew. She will be replaced in France's lineup by Rose-Eliandre Bellemare.
