Interpol: Attack on American isolated incident
LYON, France (AP) Interpol says the murder of a relative of a coach for the U.S. Olympic men's volleyball team appeared to be an isolated incident.
The head of the Lyon, France-based organization says a database check for the man's name didn't come up with any matches, suggesting the man had no links with terrorist groups or organized crime.
Interpol chief Ronald Nobel has called the incident "an isolated, though brutal, murder." In a statement Saturday, he said Interpol's investigation into the incident would continue.
The American was stabbed to death at a tourist site in Beijing on Saturday, day one of the Olympic Games. Chinese media identified the assailant as 47-year-old Tang Yongming.
He committed suicide after the murder.
