BEIJING (AP) Felix Sanchez said Friday he's "waiting and praying" to recover from a left foot injury that threatens to prevent him from seeking a second straight gold medal in the Olympic 400-meter hurdles.
"I was ready for return to the top after having placed second last year in the world championships," in Osaka, the Dominican athlete wrote in his blog.
"Instead, here I am, injured, waiting and praying for a second chance to run, trying not only to go there and win, but just to have an opportunity to compete."
"My goal has changed and that's very difficult for me to accept," he wrote. "I have always had winning as my goal."
Sanchez, 29, has been affected by a series of injuries that forced him to pull out of several recent races.
