Belgium with few expectations at Beijing Olympics

SHENYANG, China(AP) Belgium football coach Jean Francois De Sart knows his team is a heavy underdog at the Beijing Olympics.

``The team is fit, every player is ready for the start of the tournament and we hope to have good results,'' he said. ``But we know that we drew on a very strong group, with Brazil as the favorite.''

Belgium will face the Brazilians on Thursday in the Group C opener in Shenyang. It will play China on Sunday in Shenyang and close group play against New Zealand in Shanghai next Wednesday.

``It's a very difficult group, but hopefully we can create problems to every team,'' De Sart said. ``We don't have a lot of pressure. It's a pleasure for us to be here. We have young players and they are here to gain experience and improve for the future.''

Belgium won gold at the 1920 Antwerp Olympics, but hadn't qualified for the competition since 1928.
