THE 2012 AUSTIN FALL CLASSIC TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Austin Table Tennis Club conducted yet another very successful tournament on Saturday, October 13th. This venue is now considered one of the premium table tennis clubs in the nation, boasting 16 partitioned tables in a building specifically designed for this purpose. With an upstairs lounge and catwalk offering viewing from above, this event was enjoyed by spectators and participants alike. Keep your eye out for future events in Austin.
The tournament director was Conrad Song, the referee Kenneth Beauchamp and the tournament manager Marguerite Cheung.
The first round, a round robin, separated everyone into their divisions (A to F).
The next round, also a round robin, found the top 2 from each group who then fought it out for 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th in each division.
This gave everyone a lot of play, and if that wasn't enough, a doubles event followed later in the day with the same format as the singles. Close to $1,200 cash prize was given out to all top four finishers in both ‘A’ and ‘B’ divisions.
One can be sure a good time was had by all. The highlight match of the day was probably the fight for top spot in the "A" division between Yahao Zhang and Lifeng Liu (from Austin). The favorite, Yahao, won in a hotly contested match with a 3-1 game count.

After the tournament, Lifeng again generously used his prize money to treat all the volunteers to dinner at Ho Ho Restaurant.
