Personal: Schneider used his judo skills to aid in his transition to becoming one of the best wrestlers in Illinois in 2009 when he advanced to the finals within months of taking up the sport for the first time.  Schneider became known as one of the top young judo players in the world when he placed fifth at the 2009 Cadet World Championships in August 2009.  After winning the state wrestling title in February, Schneider returned his focus to judo where he became the first U.S. athlete ever to win gold at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in August.
