Myles Porter first discovered judo while taking a course on it at the University of Toledo. His interest in the sport developed into a passion, and in 2006, the then-20-year-old competed in his first national championship and became the third legally blind athlete to compete in able-bodied judo competitions. Just two short years later, Porter found himself at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games, where he took fifth. 

Porter hopes to qualify for both the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
