At the 2007 USA Outdoor Championships, Pounds upset American record holder Kim Kreiner to win with a one-centimeter PR of 59.65m/195-8. At 5-2, she is one of the world's most petite top javelin throwers...A three-time All-American, she capped off a stellar career at the Air Force Academy in 2006, winning her second consecutive NCAA title in the javelin. She claimed her third consecutive Mountain West Conference title in 2006 with a championship-meet record throw of 195'8". That throw was the best in the nation during the 2006 season and matched the best toss ever by an American-born collegian...Pounds was named the Female Field Event Athlete of the Year for the Mountain Region by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association...The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame honored Pounds as the state's top female collegiate athlete in naming her as one of five Colorado Athletes of the Year...Pounds became the first three-time javelin champion in the history of the Drake Relays, tossing the second-best mark ever at Drake (54.50m/178-10)...Pounds starting throwing in 2003. She wrapped up the 2005 season with a second-place showing at the USA Outdoors. It concluded a season in which she won NCAA, regional and conference championship titles on the collegiate level. Pounds became the Air Force Academy's first female national champion at the Division I level and the first track and field champion since Callie Calhoun won the 10,000-meter title at the 1991 Division II national outdoor meet... also played basketball for Air Force in 2002-2003... In high school, Pounds competed in the discus and the shot put. She was the 1999 Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) discus champion, the 2000 KHSAA shot put champion, the 2002 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) shot put and discus champion. Pounds earned first-team all-state honors in basketball, softball and track in 2002. She was named the 2002 Westminster Academy Female Athlete of the Year and was selected as the Miami Herald Broward Co. Female Athlete of the Year (Divisions 1-3).
