USA VOLLEYBALL HIGHLIGHTS: 2013 – Selected to the Men's Junior National Training Team. 2012 – Selected for the U.S. Men's Junior National Team that won the NORCECA Championship in Colorado Springs, Colo., and qualified for the 2013 FIVB World Championship. 2011 – Selected to the U.S. Boys’ Youth National Team.
INTERNATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS: 2012 – Named the MVP of the NORCECA Men's Junior Continental Championship... Was the U.S. team's leading scorer and eighth among all players with 55 points on 47 kills, seven blocks and one ace... Was sixth among all hitters with a kill percent of 48.5. 2011 – Played on the Boys' Youth National Team that competed in the U-19 Pan American Cup in Mexicali, Mexico (Bronze). Ben was the 10th-best server in the tournament with four aces and a .24 average per set…traveled to Argentina to play in the Youth World Championships.
CLUB/PREP HIGHLIGHTS: Named the 2010 State of Utah MVP… Member of the Provo High School team that won the State Championship…. Placed third in the Open Division at the Junior National Championships.
COLLEGE: 2013 – Helped BYU to the finals of the NCAA tournament where it fell to UC Irvine... AVCA Newcomer of the Year and first-team All-American… MPSF Freshman of the Year… All-MPSF First Team and All-MPSF Freshman Team… MPSF Player of the Week (2/25, 3/4)…AVCA Player of the Week (2/25, 3/4)… First play to ever earn back-to-back AVCA Player of the Week accolades… Started every match as a true freshman… Chalked up 418 kills to finish second on the team, tallied 101 total blocks and added 126 digs.
PERSONAL: Born Ben Patch (1994) in Layton, Utah… Parents are Mike and Linda Patch… Ben has a younger brother named Isaac (1998)… Ben is currently studying business at BYU… Started his volleyball career in 2008 with his club team Utah Elite…He started his beach career two years later in 2010 … Favorite foods are seafood and sushi… His favorite book is To Kill a Mocking Bird… His favorite movie is Baby Mama... Ben’s favorite actress is Amy Pohler… Favorite musical group is Imagine Dragons… His favorite professional team is the Miami Heat and his favorite athlete is Michael Jordan… Hobbies include playing beach volleyball, napping, throwing and ceramics…Ben admires mom, Linda, and says she “taught me to work hard and always supported anything I have ever done. She has had my back my entire life and continues to be my biggest advocate to this day.”… His happiest moments in life so far have been when he made the U.S. Boys’ Youth National Team and winning his first game at BYU.
