Personal:
Born in Evanston, Illinois, Greta Neimanas got the chance to attend the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games at age 16 when she won an essay contest through the Paralympic Academy Program with a piece called, “What Ability Means to Me.”  It was at the Athens Games that Neimanas first saw Paralympic track cycling in action, and she knew she had to try it. By 2007 she made her first world championship team, and soon she was on her way to the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games. Now, Neimanas is a two-time Paralympian and two-time world champion who shows no signs of slowing down.

Neimanas, who was born without her left arm, grew up in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago with her parents and two younger siblings. Neimanas is also an avid soccer player, as she played for 13 years before transitioning to cycling full-time. She also enjoys skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking and photography.
