John got his start in shooting at seven years old, through his parents, who share a love of the sport with him. John made the National Development Team in 2004 in both Trap and Double Trap. In 2006, he moved up to the National Team. John graduated from South Kitsap High School in 2006, where he also played baseball and football. John is currently working on an Associate of Science degree.

John has been involved in Boy Scouts since he was young, and has earned the high honor of Eagle Scout. John also has a love of restoring and hot roding classic cars and does it every chance he gets.
