Natalie Motley of Alexandria, VA is a six time USA Team member (’06, ’08-’12) and a four time World Championship Silver Medalist in the Inline Women’s Free Skating event. This summer, Natalie was awarded the 2011 Artistic Athlete of the Year by USA Roller Sports during the Hall of Fame reception. Natalie is a dedicated and award winning athlete not only in her sport of Inline Figure Skating, but also on the track team at school as well as volunteering for Special Olympic skating events. This disciplined young lady is also a member of the National Honor Society at school.

Future goals you hope to obtain as a skater:  I strive everyday as I practice to improve my skating skills-speed, endurance, and grace. I would love to continue to make the World team and encourage others to skate and help them appreciate the fun and challenges of skating.    


Team USA Sport Accomplishments: 6 Time World Team Member, World Silver Medalist for World Class Inline ladies 2009,2010,2011,2012

Awards, honors and statistics received in roller sports:  World Class Inline ladies National Champion 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011,2012, and 2013. First place at  Southeastern Regional competition from 2004-2013. 10 time national medalist.  U.S. National Elementary Inline Champion 2005,Silver medalist for Elementary Inline 2004,Silver and Bronze medalists in World Class Ladies Inline event at U.S. Nationals 2006 and 2007. 

Other awards and/or honors received outside of roller sports:  Cobra track team award for endurance runs (800m-1500m). Silver medalist in the 800 meter. 2012 National Collegiate Skating Champion. 2013 State Games of America Figure skating Senior ladies champion.

Special Olympics skating volunteer-- developed programs, prepared skaters for competitions, and encouraged good sportsmanship.

Other sports you currently participate in: I enjoy running although I no longer compete in Track. I also regularly participate in Pilates classes for core strengthening.

Who is your favorite sports figure: Carolina Kostner

Who is the person you most admire/greatest influence in your life and why: My parents, coaches and my brothers. They have supported me in every practice and competition, through the ups and downs.

List your hobbies:  Running, reading, studying, ice skating, exploring the outdoors, and hanging out with friends.

What music do you listen to during training or competition?  A random assortment including oldies and top 40 countdown.

What makes you a unique and special person:  I am quite and deliberate in my studies and practices, but I always feel really good at the close of each day because I know I have worked hard and tried my best and hopefully along the way I positively influenced a stranger, friend or family member.

Favorite food before a competition: A banana and peanut butter -- yes this is true!

Favorite movie: The Hunger Games and the Harry Potter movies

Most prized possession: Memories of skating competitions and good times with friends and family.

Family Members Who Have Competed or Are Competing in Amateur or Professional Athletics:  Collin Motley ( my little brother) has competed in USARS events since 2009. In 2009 he was a Primary A boys competitor, 2010 Elementary Boys inline champion and Juvenile B boys champion, 2011 Freshman Inline boys champion and Juvenile/Elementary B boys 4th place finisher, 2012 Freshman Inline Boys Champion and Juvenile/Elementary A boys bronze medalist. 2013 Freshman Inline boys champion, Juvenile/Elementary A Pairs champion, and Juvenile/Elementary A Boys silver medalist. We practice together and I try to encourage him to continue to improve and focus....sometimes he gets a little too silly :)
