Triathlon Career Highlights: Selected as USA Triathlon's Junior Elite Athlete of the Year in 2010 for the second straight year • Bronze medalist at the 2010 ITU Junior Triathlon World Championship in Budapest on Sept. 12 • Posted a time of 52:22 in the sprint-distance event • Won a pair of medals at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games, capturing silver in the male triathlon and bronze in the mixed team relay • Posted a time of 54:55 in the individual race to finish just 14 seconds behind gold medalist Aaron Barclay of New Zealand • In the relay, McDowell posted the fastest individual split of any athlete and led team Americas 1 to bronze • Qualified for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games with a victory at the April 16 ITU Triathlon American Youth Olympic Games Qualifier in Monterrey, Mexico • Clocked a time of 53:46 in the sprint-distance event to win by 47 seconds over Mexico's Octavio Oliveros • Also anchored the U.S. relay team to victory at the Youth Olympic Games Qualifier April 18 in Monterrey • Named USA Triathlon's 2009 Junior Elite Athlete of the Year after winning the 2009 USA Triathlon Junior Elite National Championship and placing fourth at the 2009 ITU Junior Elite World Championship • Also a member of Team USA for the 2008 ITU Junior Elite World Championship • Four-time USA Triathlon All-American selection (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010).
