Personal: Parents are Wayne and Kathleen Kaye • Married to fellow U.S. elite Jarrod Shoemaker • Earned her undergraduate degree in sport psychology and completed a master’s degree in athletic counseling in 2009 • Became involved in triathlon with her swimming teammates who were doing triathlons to prepare for the swim season • She was hooked immediately and bought a used road bike at a garage sale for the next year.
