Allison Jones is a Paralympian in both cycling and alpine skiing. She was born without her right femur and is missing her right leg above the knee. Jones’ first Paralympic Games experience came at the 2002 Paralympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City in alpine skiing. She went on to compete in track cycling at the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games, and since then, Jones has competed in the 2008, 2010 and 2012 Games in either track cycling or alpine skiing. At the London 2012 Games, her gold medal in the individual time trial (road cycling) made her just the second American woman to earn gold medals at both the summer and winter Paralympic Games, joining Paralympic skier and wheelchair basketball player Alana Nichols.

Jones lives in Colorado Springs and trains at the National Sports Center for the Disabled in Winter Park, Colo., alongside Nichols. Jones has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Denver, where she was also awarded the school’s highest honor for undergraduates, the “Pioneer Award.” She hopes to earn her Master’s degree in prosthetics and orthotics. In her free time, Jones collects Coca-Cola bottles from around the world and is a self-proclaimed fan of packing and unpacking her bags for all of her skiing and cycling trips.
