In 2003, Elena Hight became the first woman to land a 900 in competition at only 13-years-old. At a hair over five-feet-tall, seeing Hight boost out of a superpipe is incredible, to say the least. Then, to watch her stomp out the most difficult combinations, it becomes evident why this young rider is known to be one of the most progressive in the sport.

In a season where she was welcomed back to competition with the U.S. Snowboarding program, Hight made a splash at a number of competitions. The Olympian kicked the season off in Copper, Colo., with a fifth-place finish at the U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix at Copper Moutain.
She followed things up with a number of appearances on the World Cup circuit, finishing eighth at the 2006 Olympic halfpipe in Torino, and then icing the cake with a podium in La Molina, Spain.

FIRST TRACKS

Thanks to father Mike, Hight stepped on her first snowboard at age 6. She was then competing in local events when she was 8. The progression pipeline worked its magic and landed the pipe star at some of the biggest competitions in the world before she could even drive a car.
