Lee Glandorf

Team USA Endurance

Name: Lee Glandorf
Date of Birth: Jan. 28, 1987
Birth Place: Boston, Mass.
Current Residence: Cambridge, Mass.
College: Yale University
Occupation: Public Relations

Olympic Experience:
  • London 2012 Games, purchased tickets to the Games one year in advance, in hopes that one of her best friends from Yale Crew would make the U.S. Women’s Rowing Team, going to Eton Dorney and representing the USA in a sea of Brits was a once-in-a-lifetime experience
Sporting Career Highlights:
  • 2009 NCAA Division 1 Second Eights National Championship, came in first place
  • Senior year, crew won the Head of the Charles, had an undefeated regular season and won a team Ivy League Championship
  • I have run one marathon, the 2010 Richmond Marathon, which I completed in 3 hours 39 minutes, squeaking in with a (then) Boston qualifying time, was the toughest thing she's done after collegiate rowing
Fun Facts:

She is a twin ... works in tech public relations in her hometown, Boston … has been looking for a 2013 marathon to run after turning 26 … is incredibly superstitious and will wear something on race day that is imbued with some kind of “meaning” … favorite memories from the 2012 Games include cheering on friends from the shore and experiencing the insanely nerve-wracking six minutes that made up the Women’s 8+ gold medal final

Fundraising Experience:

Helped fundraise for Community Rowing's $1.6 million dollar Harry Parker Boathouse in Boston and is part of the Yale Women's Crew fundraising campaign to raise $1 million to endow the head coach position and the women's crew program

Excited to run for Team USA because she was fortunate enough to attend the London 2012 Olympic Games and watch several former rowing teammates compete (and win!) .. she wants to help support athletes achieve their dreams on the Olympic stage since she, as a former athlete, can relate with the dedication and single-mindedness that these athletes possess
