Out of curiosity, Michelle began archery by walking into an indoor archery range at Bull Run Shotgun Range in Virginia. There she  gained instruction from Olympian Ruth Rowe and began to have success; earning both local and national titles and records. Michelle moved to the BEST method a few weeks before Target Championships in 2008. As a first year Cub, she placed a few points out of third in the Cadet division and gained an invitation to be evaluated for the JDT. Since being accepted, Michelle has worked hard to learn BEST and perform well. Although Michelle is technically a Cub by age, she competes as a Cadet. Her 2009 accomplishments include: 1st NAA Indoor Nationals, 1st JOAD Indoor (Cub), 3rd SI Cup, 2nd Youth World Team Trials, 4th JOAD Nationals, 4th Target Championships, and Michelle has broken and set 23 new national records. Michelle ranked 21st and finished 29th representing the US at the Youth World Games, her first international experience, and helped the US Cadet team place 5th, nearly making it to the medal matches. While shooting in the Senior division at the Olympic Archery Festival  in El Salvador, Michelle helped the US gain 4 medals: 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. Since joining the JDT, Michelle has learned much, gained new experiences, and gained many new friends with people with the same devotion to archery as herself. Michelle now trains hard for continuous improvement  in all aspects of the sport and to reach her ultimate goal of winning that gold medal while representing the US in the Olympic Games.
