Whitney Gelin is a 2007 graduate of the University of North Carolina where she lettered in softball all four years.  She was an academic team captain of the Tar Heels and was awarded the Papa Coach’s Award in 2007 and the Carroll Hustle Award in 2005. She is also a three-time winner of UNC’s Iron Ram award presented to the top five Carolina female athletes. Academically, Gelin was a double major in exercise and sport science, and psychology. Gelin is currently the head coach of Greensboro College's softball team. In 2010, she led the Pride to a 28-15-1 record, winning first USA South championship which advanced them to the school's first NCAA tournament. At Citrus High School in Inverness, Florida, Gelin was a second-team all-state softball player anad a two-time weightlifting state champion. In January of 2010, Gelin was named her County's Athlete of the Decade by the Citrus County Chronicle. Gelin started playing team handball in the summer of 2009 and was a member of the USA Select Team that toured Poland.
