Tommy Ford is one of the fastest movers in ski racing. A technical master, Ford also has shown speed in downhill and super G. The ski world took notice of Ford after he dominated the 2006 national J2 championships - winning four gold medals (SL, GS, combined, super G) and a silver (downhill). It wasn't long before he was on the podium at the U.S. Championships senior level and winning medals at the Junior Worlds.
Ford grew up in Bend, Ore., and started to ski at Mt. Bachelor around age 2. "My mother and father both raced and coached. My brother also raced so I have been around racing all of my life. I started with MBSEF around the age of seven. From there I just kept having fun and racing. After joining the Development Team following high school, Ford jumped immediately to the B Team the next season and also started school at Dartmouth.
All about having fun, especially outside. When I am inside I find some creative way to have fun...I believe the more I can expose myself to, the more I learn about myself. The better I know myself, the more confident I can be in anything I do and it just so happens that I love to ski...Enjoys rock climbing, drawing, mountain biking, listening to music, skateboarding, attempting to play cello, slack lining...I bring creativity into everything I do; it's fun.
