Jared Fleming is a 19-year old sophomore at Louisiana State University at Shreveport, where he is studying Physical Therapy, and made Dean’s List his Freshman year. Growing up in Pine City, NY, Jared was a shot put and discus thrower, a competitive soccer player for six years, and a High Honors Student. He has also been an elite athlete in Olympic-styleWeightlifting—an Olympic event. Jared is currently the #1-ranked twenty-and-under USAW weightlifter in the country. He currently holds three Jr. American Olympic Weightlifting records and two National Collegiate records. During his early training years, Jared competed—just for fun—in Powerlifting competitions, where he also set numerous American, World, and State Powerlifting records. Jared has more than an Olympic dream; he's a young man with rare physical talent and the mental discipline to get him there.

Jared began training in late December 2001; he qualified for the USAW Schoolage Nationals & AAU Junior Olympics at his first competition.  At age eleven he was the youngest of thirty athletes accepted to attend a weeklong weightlifting training camp in Gettysburg.  Jared is passionate about the sport and aspires to compete in the 2012 and/or 2016 Olympic Games.
