Kate Callahan was a track & field athlete in high school and is making a return to the sport after recently rediscovering her talents.

Callahan made her Team USA debut at the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand, and competed in the shot put, discus and javelin events.  She finished fifth in the discus (F57), setting an American record with her 26.15-meter toss.

Callahan, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, is now a full-time wheelchair-user due to a neurological disorder and found the ability to return to competitive sport after attending the National Veterans Wheelchair Games and a USOC Paralympic Military Sports Camp.

Long-term, her sights are set on representing the U.S. at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
