MAJOR INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION: 2010 – Tour of China. 2009 – Egypt Tour.

INTERNATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS: 2010 – Played in six sets with one start in three-match tour of China. Averaged 2.33 points per set, including seven-point performance against Hong Kong on Jan. 30 and Evergrande on Jan. 31…Tallied four blocks in two sets versus Evergrande on Jan. 31 to lead to a 0.83 block average for China Tour. 2009 - Tallied eight points (7 kills, 1 ace) versus Egypt on April 12 in international debut with U.S. Women’s National Team.

COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS: 2008 - Selected to American Volleyball Coaches Association All-West Region Team...Named All-Mountain West Conference after leading the league in block average (1.50 per set), while ranking second on the team in kills (3.40 per set), hitting percentage (.354) and points per set (4.46 per set)...Helped Colorado State in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division I Tournament. 2007 - Named AVCA All-America Third Team after finishing with 420 kills and team-high 28 aces...Averaged 1.65 blocks per game and 177 total blocks...Led team in scoring with 545 points for a 5.09 average...Named Mountain West Conference Player of the Year...One of only three players in NCAA Division I to be in the top 10 for both hitting percentage and blocks per set. 2006 - Selected All-Mountain West Conference after completing year with 306 kills, .286 attack percentage and team-high 31 aces. 2005 - Started all 30 matches for Colorado State as freshman...Became just fifth Colorado State freshman to reach 100 blocks in first season, ending year with 129 blocks. 2004 - Redshirted at Colorado State.

CLUB/PREP CAREER: Three-sport athlete at ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch, Colo., lettering in volleyball, basketball and track and field...Selected all-state in volleyball in 2003 and helped the Grizzlies win the 5A state championship in basketball in 2002-2003 season...Did not compete in basketball senior season...Named second-team all-state in volleyball in 2004 by the Rocky Mountain News...Played club volleyball for Front Range, which qualified for the USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships.

PERSONAL: Born Mekana Denai Barnes on Oct. 29, 1986, in Pasedena, Calif....Father is Robert Barnes...Has younger sister Britney and three younger brothers - Trent, Teray and Christopher.
