Mark Bathum began skiing at the age of nine, and just three years later discovered his passion for ski-racing. Driven by his friends success in racing Bathum decided to dedicate his time and energy to racing by enrolling at Mission Ridge Racing Academy, one of the first skiing academies in the Northwest.

 

Bathum returned to the slopes last season after a long hiatus and is now a member of the U.S. Adaptive Team for the 2009-2010 season. During the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games he and his guide Slater Story took home silver in downhill.

 

Currently, Bathum is working on a second career trying to build a real estate portfolio.

 

Major Achievements:

  • 2010: Silver medal, downhill; fourth place, super-g – Paralympic Winter Games, Vancouver, Canada
  • 2009: Member of U.S. Adaptive Ski Team
