Cristina Albert has only been snowboarding competitively for three years, but she has quickly risen through the ranks as one of the nation’s top snowboarders. At the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games, she surprised by earning a career-best fourth place, the second-highest finish for Team USA in the event. Albert was born in Romania with amniotic band syndrome and a clubfoot. She was adopted at three-years-old and underwent several reconstructive surgeries. At 12-years-old, she lost her left foot due to a Staph infection following surgery on her clubfoot. Albert is active off the slopes with a job as a veterinary tech and enjoying activities including hiking, rock climbing, painting and standup comedy.
