Lake Placid was the site of both the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Winter Games and athletes still use the renovated facilities from the 1980 Games to sharpen their skills. Most recently, of the 80 U.S. Olympic medal winners at the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Winter Games, 75 of the medalists trained at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center. It’s not just winter sports either, as the LPOTC offers training to all sports year round. Below is a list of sports that the LPOTC center around:

Other sports that train at the LPOTC include: archery, athletics, badminton, boxing, canoe/kayak, gymnastics (rhythmic), rowing, synchronized swimming, team handball, triathlon, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting and wrestling.
