SCOTT BLACKMUN
Chief Executive Officer

Scott Blackmun became chief executive officer of the United States Olympic Committee on Jan. 6, 2010. He is an ex-officio member of the USOC’s board of directors. He also serves on the International Olympic Committee’s Marketing Commission, a post that he assumed by IOC appointment on March 10, 2011, and on the board of the National Foundation for Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.

Blackmun had a previous stint at the USOC, serving as acting chief executive officer (2001), senior managing director of sport (2000) and general counsel (1999). Following his departure in 2001, Blackmun became the chief operating officer of Anschutz Entertainment Group, one of the world’s most respected presenters of sports and entertainment events. While based in Los Angeles, he served on the board of directors of the California Chamber of Commerce.

Blackmun spent more than 20 years practicing law in Colorado and was a partner in two large international firms. His practice focused on sports and entertainment, with an emphasis on project finance for sports and entertainment venues. He started his career in 1982 with Holme Roberts & Owen and became a partner of the firm in 1988. He served on the firm’s executive committee from 2007-09. He was a partner at Hogan & Hartson, and managing partner of the firm’s Colorado Springs office, from 1994 until he joined the USOC in 1999.

Blackmun graduated summa cum laude in 1979 from Dartmouth College, where he received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and was a member of the varsity soccer team for four years. He received a law degree from Stanford School of Law in 1982.

Blackmun and his wife, Ann, live in Colorado Springs and have three children.
