RICK ADAMS
Chief, Sport Operations and NGB Relations

Rick Adams was named chief of sport operations and National Governing Body relations for the United States Olympic Committee in July 2013 after previously serving as managing director of NGB organizational development. Prior to joining to the USOC in October 2010, Adams served as the CEO of USA Weightlifting from 2009-10. 

In his current role, Adams oversees the three U.S. Olympic Training Centers and partners collaboratively with more than 45 NGBs to enhance their effectiveness in the areas of business services and organizational development such as fundraising, governance, strategic planning and best practices. Adams oversees the USOC’s Safe Sport initiative, serves as liaison to the NCAA and works closely with internal USOC divisions – including sport performance, marketing, development, legal and audit – to service the needs of the NGBs.

During his tenure with USA Weightlifting, Adams led the organization through a transformation that increased membership, established several grassroots programs and generated new sponsorship revenue. Additionally, Adams reorganized USA Weightlifting's operations and established an increased level of efficiency in its national office. 

From 2007-09, Adams was the chief operating officer for Beyond Meetings & Incentives, a New York-based company that specializes in full-service event planning for corporate meetings, incentive travel and sports marketing.

From 2002-06, Adams was president and managing partner for RBC Sports, a sports entertainment company that co-owned and operated four members of the ECHL. From 1994-2002, Adams was president and CEO of the ECHL.

A resident of Colorado Springs, Colo., Adams is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and obtained his law degree from Rutgers University.
