Managing Director, Human Resources
Pam Sawyer became the managing director of human resources for the United States Olympic Committee in March 2010 after joining the organization as director of HR in January 2009. She is responsible for the people and talent strategies that drive organizational effectiveness and high performance. As part of her role, Sawyer is the functional leader overseeing all HR programs and systems within the USOC, including organizational development, talent development, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, HR information systems, USOC policies and procedures, diversity, and employee relations.
Previously, Sawyer worked for The Weather Channel from 2000-08. There, she held multiple roles, including HR manager, vice president of HR and director of organizational development and diversity. While at The Weather Channel, she created and implemented a successful diversity strategy, led succession planning, created employee resources groups, developed retention strategies for high-potential employees and partnered with multiple business units as the primary HR leader.
Prior to The Weather Channel, Sawyer served from 1993-95 as an HR manager for Turner International Inc., in London, and then as an HR director/consultant from 1995-2000 at Turner Entertainment Networks in Atlanta.
Sawyer earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration/marketing from the University of Georgia and is currently a member of the Society of HR Managers. She is a former board member of the Colorado Springs Diversity Forum and is currently a member of the Colorado Springs Utilities HR review team.
