The United States began celebrating Olympic Day in 2009, and it has continued to grow each year. In 2014, more than 500,000 people in 813 communities across the United States hosted 1,055 Olympic Day celebrations. There were 11 international locations that hosted an Olympic Day 2014 celebration. Host organizations and cities joined more than 875 Olympians and Paralympians in celebrating Olympism in their communities.
