  • Taylor is related to Olympic medalist gymnasts Paul and Morgan Hamm. Their grandfather was Taylor's great, great Uncle.
  • In addition to her gold medal in the 1984 Olympic Games, Taylor's mother, Connie, also competed in speedskating events at the 1972 Olympic Winter Games. She's also a former world champion in Taylor's event - the individual pursuit.
  • Despite being the United States' fastest individual pursuit rider, Taylor didn't even become eligible to compete in the 2008 Olympic Games until six weeks before they started when he turned 18.
